Paris

Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie

Cite des Sciences et de L'industrieThe Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie is one of the largest and most visited science and technology museums in the world.  Located in the Villette Park in the north east of Paris the exhibition halls cover an area of 30,000m ².  Exhibitions are organised around the major themes of science, technology and industry and are supported by models, audiovisuals, interactive options and activity programmes.

The most striking and prominent feature of the complex is the Géode, one of the worlds largest geodesic domes, that stands 32m high with its shiny stainless steel surface.  Inside the Géode is an Omnimax movie theatre with a 1000 square feet screen showing amazing special effects.

The Explora covers everything from microbiology to outerspace with lots of different interactive exhibits and demonstrations.  You can even get to experience weightlessness.

As well as all this there are many many mfore exhibits to discover at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie, from the “Cinaxe” to the “Living World” and “Communications”.

Of course, Paris is a beautiful city a vast array of attractions and iconic landmarks.   And, with its close proximity to the Disneyland Paris and Parc Asterix theme parks, it offers something for everyone.  Make the most of your school trip to Paris and include a visit to the summit of the Eiffel Tower or a boat cruise on the River Seine:

  • Air and Space Museum, over 150 aircraft including Concorde, taking you on an extraordinary scientific, technical and human adventure.  The visit can include a Planetarium session, a visit to the play area to learn about aviation and space, workshops and flight simulators

  • Walk down the famous Champs-Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe

Why not make your school trip and combine a visit to Paris with a visit to Futuroscope at Poitiers.

Futuroscope

Futuroscope is one of the largest and most popular educational theme parks in Europe.  Futuroscope will give your students a truly amazing experience of fun and discovery.  Attractions amongst many many others include the IMAX 3D Dome and the Deep Sea 3D which takes you deep into the last unchartered territories on Earth.
Each day the park hosts a spectacular evening show with a combination of giant images on water screens, special effects, lasers, jets of flame and light, that make a fantastic finale to the end of your visit.
Not to be forgotten is the nearby historical city of Poitiers with over 2000 years of history.  With its historic centre sheltering over 80 listed monuments it is definitely worth a visit.

We can arrange for your school group to be accommodated on-site at Futuroscope, just a few minutes’ walk from the park.  Meals can be taken either at the park or at the hotel.

Munich

Munich BMWMunich is the capital city of Bavaria and is steeped with history and culture.  It is known in Germany as the city with the village feel.  It has all the sophistication of a big city but is on a much smaller scale.  It is a delight to walk around and whilst it is relatively small there is enough to keep students occupied for weeks. 




Suggested visits:

  • BMW Museum – marvel at the horizons of transport technology through five generations
  • Deustches Museum – the largest museum of technology and natural sciences in the world, with over 13 acres of exhibitions, from classical mechanics to telecommunications and from a full size reconstructed coal mine to space travel technology
  • Neuschwanstein Castle – probably one of the most famous castles in the world, built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in 1868
  • Olympic Tower – built for the Olympic games in 1973 and Germany’s tallest tower, offering spectacular views 
  • Hofbrauhaus – the historic beer hall where the famous Hofbrauhaus was once brewed
  • Shopping on the Neuhauserstrasse and Kaufingerstrasse
  • Christmas markets

Barcelona

Barcelona offers your students the opportunity to experience the language, art, cuisine and culture of Spain all at the same time, giving them an experience they will never forget. 

 




No visit to Barcelona would be complete without a visit to at least a few of the following:

  • La Boqueria – Spains largest food market.  A great place to try the local tapas
  • Cooking class – try your hand at cooking some of the local produce
  • Tapas meal and tasting
  • Torres Winery
  • Chocolate Museum
  • Las Ramblas – the central most boulevard running through the heart of the city, with live performances, human statues and artists
  • La Sagrada Familia – the great temple designed by Antonio Gaudi
  • Parc Guell – designed by Antonio Gaudi, the park contains amazing stone structures and offers a wonderful view of Barcelona city
  • Nou Camp – the 3rd largest football stadium in the world.  Try the Nou Camp Experience and take a tour of the grounds, players dressing rooms, VIP area, press conference area and museum
  • La Pedrera – another of Antonio Gaudi’s creations.  One of the most unusual apartment buildings ever built
  • Picasso Museum – a fascinating insight into how he developed the distinctive designs that he is now famous for
  • Maremagnum – huge complex by the Port Vell harbour with shops, cinemas, cafes and restaurants

Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast

SorrentoSorrento is located in Campania, one of Italy’s most beautiful regions.  Campania’s coastline, particularly the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, is quite dramatic and dotted with many small picturesque towns.

The town of Sorrento looks out over the Bay of Naples towards Mount Vesuvius.  The history and traditions of the town can be seen in the bustling piazzas and cobbled streets.  The main square, the Piazza Tasso is brimming with cafes, restaurants and shops.

Suggested tours from Sorrento:

  • Gnocchi making class – includes gnocchi making, with meal and tastings
  • Pizza making class 
  • Local farms – visit the local farms and lemon groves, see how mozzarella is made, taste the local cheese, hams, salamis and marmalades
  • Limoncello Factory - made from the famously huge Amalfi Coast lemons  which really are bigger and more 'lemony' than most others
  • Amalfi Coast – take a full day excursion along the Amalfi coast, stop at the belvedere in Positano to take pictures and then go onto visit the beautiful towns of Amalfi, Ravello, Maiori and Minori
  • Isle of Capri – located 3 km from the Sorrento Peninsula Capri has been visited over the centuries by intellectuals, artists and writers, all enthralled by its magical beauty
  • Herculaneum Archaeological site
  • Vesuvius National Park
