AmsterdamHolland makes a great destination for value for money coach school trips to Europe.  The close proximity of many of the towns and cities gives you the opportunity to combine a coastal stay with a visit to some of the most interesting cities of the Netherlands.  Why not combine a visit to one of the delightful resorts on the Dutch coast with a trip to Amsterdam with its historic and picturesque canals and The Hague with its rich history and tradition.

The beautiful coastal villages of Bergen, Noordwijk, Bakkum and Egmond boast excellent outside activity areas but are only 45 minutes from the excitement of Amsterdam or The Hague.

Suggested Amsterdam  visits:

  • Canal cruise – takes you past all the Amsterdam highlights
  • Amsterdam Flower Market – the floating flower market on one of the oldest canals of Amsterdam.  First held in 1862
  • Van Gogh Museum – a fantastic insight into the life and works of Van Gogh, with over 200 canvases, 500 drawings and 750 written documents
  • The Anne Frank House – the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during World War II.  The original version is on display as part of the permanent exhibition
  • Efteling Theme Park - a fairytale themed park with rides, musicians, shows and bobsleigh

The Zaanse Schans

The Zaanse Schans is a fully inhabited, open-air conservation area and museum located 9 miles north of Amsterdam.  Original buildings vividly depict Dutch life in the 17th and 18th centuries.  Apart from the cluster of windmills and characteristic wooden houses there are clog making demonstrations, traditional bakeries, cheese farms, museums and restaurants.

Cheese Making and Clog Decorating Workshops

While in Holland, why not take the opportunity to try one of the Dutch Gouda Cheese making workshops and make your own cheese to take home, or decorate a pair of clogs to creat your own personal wooden shoe.

Valkenburg

Valkenburg is situated to the south of Holland, just 13 km from Maastricht, the oldest city of the Netherlands.  Valkenburg not only has a pretty, picturesque historic centre full of restaurants, bars and shops, but it also has plenty to give your school group a fun packed activity trip.

Valkenburg activities:

  • Wilhelmina Tower Chair Lift – the scenic chair lift leading up to the famous Wilhelmina Tower sends you soaring high above the ground below.  Once at the top you can tour the 30 metre hight tower for magnificent views over the town
  • Wihelmina Toboggan – from the tower make your way back down to the bottom on the Wilhelmina bobsled
  • Phantasialand Theme Park – just one hour from Valkenburg

Valkenburg particularly comes alive at Christmas, with its unique Christmas market that takes place in the beautifully lit old caves which run beneath the town.
